Overview

CommIT Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Lead to join our dynamic development team in Charleston, SC. *This position can also be remote! As a Technical Lead/Cloud Networking Engineer specializing in AWS SCCA (Secure Cloud Computing Architecture), you will be entrusted with the responsibility of architecting, implementing, optimizing, and automating cloud networking solutions within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the security and reliability of our cloud infrastructure while adhering to industry best practices and compliance standards. This role presents an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in networking technologies and AWS services to enhance the security posture and operational efficiency of our cloud environment.

Our enterprise systems support includes the Department of Defense’s (DoD) GCSS-MC, CAC2S, TBMCS-MC, and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs’ (VA) telehealth communications. We offer acquisition management, systems engineering, Agile software development, cloud management, IT modernization, data analytics, cybersecurity, and training, including leading-edge DevSecOps, automated testing, and mobile application development.

Responsibilities

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to-

  • Architecture Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement secure cloud networking architectures within AWS SCCA guidelines, encompassing VPC (Virtual Private Cloud), subnets, security groups, routing tables, and network access controls.
  • Security Implementation: Implement robust security controls and measures within the AWS environment, including IAM (Identity and Access Management), encryption, network segmentation, and security group configurations, to safeguard against unauthorized access and data breaches.
  • Network Optimization: Optimize network performance, reliability, and scalability by fine-tuning configurations, monitoring traffic patterns, and implementing efficient routing and load balancing strategies, with a focus on minimizing latency and maximizing throughput.
  • Automation and Orchestration: Drive automation initiatives to streamline networking tasks and workflows, leveraging infrastructure-as-code tools like AWS Cloud Formation and Terraform to automate provisioning, configuration, and maintenance tasks.
  • Incident Response and Troubleshooting: Respond promptly to networking incidents and outages, conducting root cause analysis and implementing remediation measures to restore service availability and prevent recurrence, while adhering to incident response protocols 

Qualifications

Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; advanced certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified Advanced Networking Specialty preferred.
  • Master’s degree with 8 years of experience (or Bachelors with 10 years of experience) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or relevant field
  • Extensive experience designing, implementing, and managing cloud networking solutions within the AWS platform, with a strong emphasis on security, compliance, and scalability.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, BGP, VPC peering, and Direct Connect, as well as familiarity with AWS networking services such as VPC, EC2, ELB, Route 53, and Transit Gateway.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages like Python, along with experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as AWS CloudFormation and Terraform.
