Overview

CommIT Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a highly organized and adaptable Business Operations Specialist to support the day-to-day functions of the Business Operations team in Stafford, VA. This role will assist with invoicing, project setup in the accounting system, document tracking, and other operational tasks that ensure smooth internal execution. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, dependable, and capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

 

Established in 2001, CommIT is a Certified Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) providing innovative technical engineering and data science services. Our enterprise systems support includes the Department of Defense’s (DoD) GCSS-MC, CAC2S, TBMCS-MC, and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs’ (VA) telehealth communications. We offer acquisition management, systems engineering, Agile software development, cloud management, IT modernization, data analytics, cybersecurity, and training, including leading-edge DevSecOps, automated testing, and mobile application development.

Responsibilities

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to-

  • Assist with generating and compiling monthly invoices for multiple government contracts.

  • Set up new projects and modifications in the accounting system (e.g., Unanet), ensuring all data is accurate and compliant.

  • Track, organize, and maintain internal documentation such as SOWs, contract modifications, subcontractor agreements, and NDAs.

  • Monitor project status and alert the Business Operations Manager to pending actions or expirations (e.g., POP end dates, option years, funding ceilings).

  • Support timekeeping and labor category compliance reviews to ensure hours are properly aligned to contracts and funding.

  • Help ensure internal trackers and reports are up to date (e.g., contract tracker, billing schedules, subcontractor PO logs).

  • Coordinate with HR, Finance, BD, and PM teams to ensure operational alignment and continuity.

  • Support other cross-functional tasks as assigned by the Business Operations Manager or leadership team.. 

Qualifications

Required Experience and Education:

  • 2–5 years of experience in a technical role (e.g., engineering, systems administration, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret technical documents and government requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an interest in learning proposal writing or capture support.
  • Familiarity with federal acquisition processes and government contracting is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering) or equivalent experience
